Lisa has been working in the field of addiction for 17 years. Before coming to the Ranch Lisa worked with other organizations to develop residential, outpatient and medically supported treatment programs. Lisa began her career by completing a Master’s Degree in marriage and family therapy. She moved on to complete a PhD in Addiction Counselling. This work was published in 2009: Addiction Treatment for Youth and It’s Impact on Mental Illness: How Adolescent Treatment for Addiction Impacts the Symptoms of Mental Illness. She is a Registered Psychologist in Alberta and in British Columbia and has become certified as both a Sex Addiction Therapist and Supervisor for the International Institute of Trauma and Addiction. Lisa training has been a wide range of experiences meant to capture the many influences that those struggling with addiction face. Lisa is a member of the Canadian Society of Addiction Medicine and strives to continue incorporating leading edge scientific knowledge regarding addiction and trauma into her practice and program development.

Lisa has created and implemented treatment models that integrate treatment for addictions and mental health disorders. She has also created a treatment models that include process addictions such as sex addiction and gambling. Continuing education and staff training with a focus on addictive disorders and risk management are also cornerstone programs developed by Dr. Muhler.
